The Beauty of Plan B's

Life is full of unknowns and unexpected detours, so Plan B’s are pretty common! However, they aren’t always well liked. When plans change, it is upsetting and hard to accept at first. You don’t think that it will ever live up to how you envisioned the original plan playing out and all that hard work you put into the first plan seems wasted when you have to change course and envision a new plan! This also proves more difficult when it is a big life event you are altering plans for. A day you envisioned a certain way for as long as you can remember, as most girls have been dreaming of their wedding day since they were little girls. But never did those dreams include you trying to plan a wedding in the middle of a pandemic and having to come up with/use a Plan B! Life definitely knows how to throw a curveball!

To be honest, this was probably easier for me than it would be for most people. I am pretty easy going and roll with the punches. The hardest part of this whole process for me was having that standstill in the planning process where we didn’t know for sure if we would have to change our plan or not. It all depended on the amount of people we could have and we wouldn’t really know that until the day got closer. This put a standstill in our planning because we didn’t want to continue planning if we would just have to change our plan later.

With all the unknowns, the first thing we had to consider was if we still wanted to get married this year or postpone it. We knew that if we got married this year we would likely have to change our plans but we also knew that the whole point of this was to get married and that was exactly what we wanted to do!

When we made the decision to still get married on our wedding date we knew it was unlikely that we would be able to celebrate with everyone, so to make a clear cut, we decided to move our big reception to next year and just celebrate with family and wedding party this year. Once we made those big decisions, it was much easier for me to envision, accept, and execute a new plan!

The day wasn’t what I originally dreamed it would be; but that's the thing about dreams, it isn’t reality. Dreams are man's plan while reality is God’s plan in action! Reality has a way of surprising you with the unexpected that will make you happier than you could ever imagine! Sometimes your Plan A doesn’t work out because God has a better plan in place for you. Your Plan B is God's Plan A!

This experience has definitely changed the way I look at Plan B’s. There is definitely beauty in letting go and just embracing all that God has in store for you!
